February 4-15, 2008 - Dana and Rob visit Antarctica!
A work in progress, many more days' worth to come...
In February 2008 we spent 12 days in Antarctica - the Antarctica Peninsula mainly - and 14 days in Argentina. Between the two of us, we shot approximately 13,000 photos. Selecting which to show you has been a long process and Rob has only picked out a few of his here, so more to come, eventually. On one particularly extraordinary evening among tabular icebergs, we each took ∼300 photos in under 2 hours. On another day among humpback whales for 90 minutes, (in Zodiac inflatable “boats”), we each shot hundreds more.
No, there are no hotels or restaurants in Antarctica, so we enjoyed the hospitality of the ship Le Diamant and her terrific captain and crew. We were among 190 inquisitive passengers including a wonderful naturalist team and professors from four colleges/universities. If you're interested, we kept a blog during the trip.
